Nationals Visit Promises New Co-operation
A tour of the Liverpool and Breeza Plains areas on Friday 9th gave Nationals Senate Leader Barnaby Joyce and fellow Senators Fiona Nash and John Williams, together with MP Mark Coulton, a renewed understanding of why prime agricultural land needs to be protected from mining in the name of Food and Water Security for all Australians.
To a packed Caroona hall, Senator Joyce admitted, upfront, that mistakes had been made, especially the recent Water Bill amendments, sponsored by mining stooges with fake claims. However, moving forward, Senator Joyce pledged Nationals support for driving the importance of Australia’s Food and Water Security to his Coalition colleagues, but made very clear the part each and every one of us will also need to play in contacting Senators throughout NSW and voicing our concerns. The Nationals can not do it alone without our impassioned and active support.
The Federal representatives left with no doubt about the strength of feeling in the Country and acknowledged that the fight to protect our food supply from toxic coal mining was happening throughout Eastern Australia (Haystack Plains, Darling Downs, Liverpool Plains, Gloucester/Stroud, Wyong etc etc ) and that the Mining companies have grossly unequal rights over land compared to current individual Property Rights for those whose land the miners seek to destroy.
