RESCHEDULED – Public Forum & Gunnedah Council Meeting re-Santos’s work camp
Gunnedah Shire Council will now be meeting on Wednesday July 3rd 2013 to discuss the proposed Santos CSG work camp at Curlewis.
There were a record number of submissions objecting to the work camp, over 400 and growing! However, it is vitally important we provide a public presence to ensure our Councillors know we are opposed to the work camp and highlight the problems and risks associated with coal seam gas extraction across our lands and our concern with Fly In Fly Out (FIFO) workers. It is also important Council understand we strongly support their existing position of no MAC style FIFO/DIDO work camps and that we are determined that they uphold that position in this case.
The recent 7.30 Report story about fly-in/fly-out (FIFO) workers has escalated concerns about this camp in our region.
If we want to protect our region, we will need to keep on to Council over the next two months, and to arrive in big numbers every time they consider this camp proposal.
- 2.30pm for 3pm – Meet outside Gunnedah Council building, for a public forum – bring along your CSG placards/banners
- 4pm – The public are invited to go into the public gallery inside Council Chambers to hear the Council’s discussion
Please pass this onto your networks. Help ensure we pack out Gunnedah Shire Council during this important meeting and protect our region!
