B-Flat on the Plains
TRAC presents, at Rossmar Park, Co-Opera’s production of The Revenge of the Bat (Die Fledermaus)
Stroll through the Autumnal garden at Rossmar Park, chat with friends and settle in for an evening of Johann Strauss’s delightful comic operetta The Revenge of the Bat (Die Fledermaus).
Friends of the Liverpool Plains are offering gourmet “Taste of the Plains” delicacies and fine wines, or pack your own picnic. Bring a chair, a rug, a cushion.
This new production of The Revenge of the Bat (Die Fledermaus) with its 11-member cast, is a winning match for Co-Opera’s unique, vivacious and irreverent style. Sung in English, it is set in the glamorous high society of 1920s Art Deco Australia. In a prologue, Dr Falke tells how his best friend Eisenstein, after a drunken masked ball, leaves the Doctor naked in the centre of town with only his mask to cover his crown jewels. This hideous embarrassment in front of the whole town requires revenge!
Thus the stage is set for the wonderful music of the Waltz King, Johann Strauss, to lead us on a merry musical chase, with a cast of loveable characters. Fun, mayhem and lots of champagne!
There will be two intervals of 15 minutes. The performance ends at approximately 8.30pm.
